As you might’ve seen on our Facebook page, a few members of the Boise FiftyFlowers team traveled down to Quito, Ecuador to visit some of our partner farms and attend the Agriflor international flower show! Definitely take a minute to check out the photo albums we posted showing our farm visits, it was eye-opening to see everything that goes on behind the scenes of their beautiful flowers. You looked? Saw them all? Great! Okay, now it’s time to talk flower show.
To say it was overwhelming was an understatement. The flower varieties, exhibits, and arrangements that were on display were truly mind-blowing. There were companies from Spain, Russia, Colombia, Holland, the U.S., France, Germany, and–of course–all over Ecuador. But enough talk, time for some visuals!
Looking down from the balcony the first day. So many amazing colors throughout! (Also, the stripes behind that “NEGRETE Star Roses” sign are all made of flowers.)
Two-toned roses. Yes they’re real, and yes we’re looking into carrying them!
Ice cream cones filled with tinted Baby’s Breath. Simple, whimsical, and oh so fun.
Lovely display of rose varieties by color. Further proof that a single stem in a simple bud vase can really make an impact!
Lots of impromptu meetings with Farm Managers throughout the show to discuss products, packaging, shipping options, etc.
Gorgeous antique-y purple rose.
Ivory roses lightly airbrushed with gold tint. Hoping to have these in time for the holidays!
On the hunt for new rose varieties to add to our selection.
David Austin Beatrice Garden Rose in full bloom. Stunning!
And there you have it! Now you have a better idea of what goes on behind the scenes in Product Development at FiftyFlowers. Attending the flower show also means we’re working on developing some exciting new products for the site, so stay tuned!
