The team here at FiftyFlowers just had the opportunity to have an inside look at where some of our lovely flowers come from, and we thought we’d share with you all!
First stop, Holland. FiftyFlowers co-founders, Liza and Blu, ventured over to attend an international flower show, familiarize themselves with new products on the market, and visit some flower farms to see these beautiful blooms at the source. Here’s just a little taste of what they experienced at the International Floriculture & Horticulture Trade Fair in Vijfhuizen, Holland:
Clockwise from top left: Our fearless leaders representing the FiftyFlowers team, an ethereal
hanging rose petal display, some psychedelic tinted orchids, chocolate-dipped (yes, you read that
right!) roses, and a wall of ruffled Cyclamen–a little sneak peek of a product that may be hitting the
site in the near future!
They also spent some quality time with the flowers at their source in the fields, and in the shipping warehouse where the flowers are carefully packed up and shipped out:
Clockwise from top left: Tending to Cymbidium Orchid plants, trimming and cleaning up
orchids for packing, beautiful Hydrangeas in the field, packaging and labeling products
for distribution, and Liza & Blu with product specialist Kevin van der Wereld.
Next, on to Colombia–where many of our pre-arranged items come from. We learned the secret of how the ribbon designs on the corsages, boutonnieres, and bouquets from the Wedding Flowers in a Box are always so perfect; the ladies of Vistaflor actually sit in front of a mirror so that they can see all angles of the process! You can also see the attention to detail that’s put into assembling handmade centerpieces, and tidying up each individual rose.
And there you have it! Now you have a better idea of what goes on behind the scenes when you place an order with FiftyFlowers. Straight from the fields to your doorstep! Attending the flower show also means we’re working on developing some exciting new products for the site, so stay tuned!
