We recently provided flowers for Danita from O Taste and See for a DIY wedding arch decor project, and we wanted to share this easy-to-follow tutorial! In this tutorial, she decorated a pre-lit metal arch with fresh flowers and greenery. Since Danita was going for a romantic blush and burgundy look, we sent her Burgundy Carnation, Vendela Ivory Roses, Hybrid Tea Rose Sweet Avalanche and Black Bacarra Red Rose. For greenery, we sent her a Silver Dollar Seeded Eucalyptus and Myrtle Garland, Silver Dollar Eucalyptus and Seeded Eucalyptus Greenery. Keep scrolling for her step-by-step instructions!
- Seeded Eucalyptus Garland (in length to fit your arch)
- Seeded Eucalyptus Greenery (or other loose greenery for covering lighting wires)
- Zip ties
- Sharp scissors or floral snips
- Ladder – these arches are taller than you realize!
- Optional- floral wire
Step 1: Assemble the arch – Save yourself some time and just read the instructions! Find the center of the garland and place it at the center of the arch.
Step 2: Using zip ties, attach the garland to the arch in several places, arrange garland leaves over zip tie so it doesn’t show. *If the ends of the zip tie are too long to hide in the greenery, snip them a little
Step 3: Determine which flowers to use as the focal point at the top of the arch. (We chose the Dahlias.) Snip stems about 2-3 inches long and place the flowers at the top of the arch, securing the stems between the greenery. Floral wire can be used if they don’t feel secure.
Step 4: Determine if you prefer a symmetrical or more asymmetrical layout. From there, begin to place flowers at desired intervals along the rest of the garland, alternating colors
Step 5: If the arch has wires that need to be covered, take stems of the loose seeded eucalyptus and weave through.
There you have it! This tutorial is DIY-friendly and can easily be personalized to fit your style and theme. Be sure to check out her Simply Elegant Wedding Centerpiece blog post!
