Canadian floral designer Christine de Beer used some of our White Phalaenopsis Orchids in her installation at the Toronto Flower Show, and won a gold ribbon for her design! The orchids were suspended in long strands, and she used water-filled glass “seahorses” to keep the blooms fresh during the show. She also wove together garlands of Tillandsia Usneoides (a.k.a. Spanish Moss) and incorporated the tips of some Curly Willow Branches to create her display, which also featured long tubes of effervescent water. The theme of the event was “Celebrate!” so Christine drew inspiration from a celebratory bubbling glass of sparkling wine! Competitors came from Canada, Bermuda, France, South Africa, United States, Barbados, United Kingdom, Ireland, and Australia to create designs for this competition, which also marked the 20th anniversary of Canada Blooms, Canada’s largest garden and flower festival.
