Year after year Peonies are one of the most sought after wedding flowers, and it’s no surprise with their romantically ruffled, full bodied blooms that are perfect for creating lush bouquets and arrangements. Peonies also have a perfect meaning for this special occasion, as they are said to embody romance and can bring good fortune and a happy marriage…cause who doesn’t want that, right?!
Perhaps it was because of these reasons why Ashley, of Decorology, a popular decorating blog, choose to use Peonies for her wedding bouquet. In fact, she choose to use beautiful Blush Peonies from FiftyFlowers.com, and I must say, it was a breathtaking bouquet! I also love the greens that Ashley added to her bouquet, and the stories behind them. Most DIY brides are looking to save money, so if you only need a small amount of greenery, try looking locally, like around your house, or your mother’s garden. That’s just what Ashley did…she added lamb’s ear from her mother’s garden and used some foxtail fern which was from a plant she had received as a favor from another wedding…and it added the prefect amount of texture, contrast and a special meaning. Let’s take a look at the finished bouquet…

*Pro Peony Tip – Within a bunch of Peonies, it is common for some blooms to open up more than others, so you may have a few partially open or even closed blooms. I myself like this look and I like the fact that Ashley included a few in her bouquet too…it provides even more texture and interest and shows the true nature of the Peony. However, if you want a bouquet of fully bloomed Peonies, it is suggested that you purchase a few more bunches over what you will need.
