Daffodils, also known as Narcissus, are classic Spring and Summertime flowers. And it’s no wonder with their bright yellow and crisp white colors! Daffodils are the March birth flower, the 10th wedding anniversary flower, and are also associated with Easter. The German word for daffodil is Osterglocke, which translates to “Easter bell.”
The Daffodil flower is a sign of wealth and luck in many cultures and giving a gift of these blooms is said to ensure future happiness.
FiftyFlowers carries a variety of Daffodils, from the traditional yellow and white varieties to St. Avalanche and Paper White which are varieties that feature several smaller blooms on each stem.
Our Daffodil flowers are shipped in bud form, but will pop open once cut and placed in water. So, after receiving your flowers, open boxes and inspect your shipment to make sure everything looks ok. Prep a few buckets, making sure they are clean, and then fill with a few inches of water. Cut any straps holding your flowers and remove any additional packing material. Cut stems at an angle, under running water, with sharp shears or scissors and then place in the prepared bucket. Allow flowers at least 4 hours to hydrate, although we usually recommend letting them hydrate overnight. Keep your flowers away from direct sunlight, drafts, or any extreme temperatures. Change water every 24 hours if needed and make sure to check water level occasionally, since your flowers will drink a large amount of water within the first 24 hours or so.
Daffodils look great alone or can be paired with other Spring and Summer blooms like Irises, Tulips, Ranunculus, Sweat Peas and many more!
