A few days ago I received my weekly newsletter from TheKnot, and this one really caught my attention. It featured a slide-show of 41 Unexpected Flower Ideas! So, I decided I needed to share a few of my favorites with you. Check out my favs, then head to TheKnot.com to see the rest of the unexpected flower ideas!
In previous posts, we have shown you LOTS of ways to use petals, but this one is new and it is a great DIY project! Create fun arrows to point guests to the ceremony or reception, create a sign with your initials, or create signs for the guestbook table, dessert table, or anywhere you wish! Get creative! All you need is petals, a glue gun and cardboard or heavy construction paper.
Under The Table Centerpieces:
Usually when you think of a centerpiece, you think of the top of a table, but not with this one! Surprise guests with an under the table centerpiece! Find a vase that can fit securely under the table. Then you can fill it with flowers in water, or hang a couple of pomanders, like the photo above.
Grassy Garden Centerpieces:
Create your own little garden! This is a fun and easy centerpiece and would be perfect for a spring wedding. You can get squares or strips of wheat grass at most health food stores. Then just push the stems of your favorite flowers down into the grass. Keep the stems short so your guests can still see across the table.
We’ve all seen hanging pomanders or kissing balls, so why not mix it up a bit?! Instead of hanging them, place a few on top of candlesticks, or just cluster a few in the center of the table. Varying sizes, heights, and colors will add interest and drama, in a good way!
Spiky Protea Settings:
Add some unexpected texture with spiky pin-cushion protea! Great for modern or tropical arrangements, and can be used alone or with other structured flowers, like mokara orchids. Place a protea at each setting for a fun touch!
Reinvented Centerpiece Vessels:
Vases can say a lot about your style, so ditch the plain glass vases and go with something different! These twine balls (shown) or birch bark vases are great for rustic weddings, while colored, single stem vases would be great for a modern event. Think teapots, mugs, tins, or any fun and unique vessel!
Looking for a cute way to line the aisle or mark VIP chairs? A cluster of mums or button poms is a perfect solution! Mums are great flowers for creating pomanders, adding to bouquets and arrangements, or making small clusters to tie around chairs or railings!
Another option for your bridesmaids or special guests, give them beautiful corsages, but not the old fashioned kind, jazz them up with bold blooms and colorful ribbon to tie around their wrist!
Hope you enjoyed a few of my favorite unexpected flower ideas! Check out the rest of the 33 awesome ideas at TheKnot.com!
