Rose Petals to Fly Over Statue of Liberty on June 6, 2014!

written by Marina Strong June 4, 2014

On Friday, June 6, 2014, on the 70th anniversary of D-Day, a non-profit association, The French Will Never Forget, and the French Consulate in New York have planned a moving tribute, and will release one million rose petals over the Statue of Liberty. I imagine it will be quite a beautiful site! Plus, the rose petals that will be floating through the sky are ours!

One million Red Rose Petals from FiftyFlowers.com will be dropped from a helicopter as a tribute to the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for the liberation of France. While the petals fall,  French and American children will unfurl the flags at the foot of Lady Liberty and the band of the First Company Governor’s Foot Guard (Hartford, Conn.) will perform both countries’ national anthems.

The official ceremony will take place on Liberty Island on Friday, June 6th, 2014 from 11:00 am to 1.00 pm. For more information visit: www.thefrenchwillneverforget.com
