It’s engagement season, which means engagement parties may be in your near future! Well, I recently came across an article on Domaine, a home décor inspiration, information and shopping site, in which they chatted with Jess Levin, the founder of Carats & Cake, a great wedding planning site… And in this article Jess gives 8 tips on how to throw an unforgettable Engagement party! All of the tips were great, but I am going to share a few of my favorites, then you can check out the rest on Domaine!
Go for a Relaxed yet Elegant Setting
Do your version of casual, whether that’s a backyard barbecue or a more formal affair.
Your engagement party is almost like a precursor to your wedding, so if your having a rustic romantic barn wedding than a backyard barbecue may be the perfect setting for your engagement party, but if you are having a formal grand ballroom wedding, than maybe opt for a party at a swanky restaurant or a hotel event room.
Give Guests a Cocktail to Toast With
Greet guests with your favorite beverage so they are more than ready to toast to your happily ever after.
It is a party after-all! This can give guests time to mingle and get to know each-other a bit as well.
Make it Romantic
Candlelight is the perfect way to add a touch of romance to your celebration.
Weddings are romantic, so, so should your engagement party. Remember the casual yet elegant statement above? Making your party feel romantic with candlelight or a cozy setting and it will take your party from everyday to engagement.
Don’t Over Do It

Your engagement party should be the event leading up to your wedding, not the one that overshadows it. Keep florals and décor understated so you have something left in your arsenal.
I know we’ve told you to make it romantic and more elegant than an everyday party, but you also need to make sure you don’t over do it! Leave the grand details for the wedding. You don’t want your guests to see it all before the big day!
