Whether you’re newly engaged (yay, congrats!), the mother-of-the-bride, or a close friend you’ll want to take a look at these hot wedding trends for this year! With so much inspiration and ideas available it can get a little overwhelming, which is why I am highlighting 10 trends. One of the trends that stood out to me that falls into each trend is personalization. Wedding couples are showing their unique personalities and style through their wedding now more than ever. I hope this inspires your creativity and whatever trend you choose to incorporate you add your personal touch. So take a look at the up and coming trends of 2018!

1. Low Centerpieces

Though tall centerpieces are still popular, couples are opting for low centerpieces because it creates an intimate feel. Centerpieces below eye-level make it easier for your guests to interact and converse.

2. Greenery

Last year Pantone named greenery the Color of the Year. Since then, we’ve seen an influx of brides using green decor within their floral arrangements, wedding decor and more. Expect to see more of these vibrant greens in other designs not limited to, but including, backdrops and chandeliers. Greenery is low maintenance, affordable and easy to care for, so it’s no wonder this stayed on-trend!

3. Boho-Inspired Cascading Bouquet

Cascading bouquets aren’t new, but this year’s version has a boho and care-free vibe! Pair whimsical flowers like scabiosa, dahlias and Gunnii Eucalyptus for an on-trend look! This style offers so many color scheme combinations, varying lengths, and textures.

4. Hanging Florals

Wedding couples are looking for an instant wow factor and hanging florals achieves just that! This is an exciting trend that has evolved over the years into something creative and unique. One of these oh-so-popular designs is floral chandeliers, which can be designed using a mix of florals and greenery. These usually have a cascading effect and look very whimsical when hung up. You’ll see also see hanging florals displayed in geometric shapes and macrame plant hangers!

5. Fall Weddings

Yes, that’s right!  September and October are the two most popular months to get married in which makes it no surprise that fall-inspired weddings have become so trendy. There are many advantages of having a fall wedding, one of them being the gorgeous autumnal colors!

 6. Metallics Details

Can we give metallics an encore?! Expect to see more brides using metallics in their wedding this year. Metallics are so versatile and can be incorporated into your wedding design, even if it’s a relaxed affair.  Consider adding a metallic touch to your cake design, bridesmaids dresses, tablescape or wedding invitations!

7. Colors

You’ll see bold, rich colors paired with soft, muted colors. Some of the color combinations WeddingWire shared were burgundy and plum, which is a very rich and moody combo. Another combo, apricot and butter yellow will also be a popular combination. They also mentioned Pantone’s Color of the Year, Ultra Violet. Expect to see this blue-based purple make a debut in your wedding flowers, decor and more.

8. Fun Texture

It’s all about texture-filled weddings! Whether it be table linen, wedding dress or ceremony backdrops, couples are not afraid to incorporate unique texture into their big day. You’ll see a lot of fun patterns and designs like laser-cut overlays and soft velvet.

9. Food Displays

Food presentation is huge this year! No matter how simple the food may be, the presentation can take your guests’ experience to a whole new level. This year we will see more and more couples adding a special element to their self-service dinner. Don’t worry, this applies to desserts too! Donut walls are still trendy and make the cutest displays. Treat your guests with a selection of a popcorn station or an oyster bar your friends and family will never forget!

10. Geometric Shapes

Brides will continue to embrace geometric shapes whether it be unique shaped backdrops or geometric patterns on invitations. Everything from cake stands to engagement rings take on a whole new level of modern in these shapes.
