Blush And Burgundy Autumn Wedding

Lyndsey Powell (Bride) Greenville, SC
For the bridesmaid bouquets, I used 3 secret garden roses, ~3 stems of white spray roses, ~3 burgundy berry dahlias. I filled in with the gunnii eucalyptus and used a few stems of the blush-colored flowers from pink lisianthus (ordered separately). For the bride's bouquet, I used ~one extra stem of each kind of flower. I used strapping tape to bind the bouquets and I found some silk ribbon to tie them with, although I completely forgot to tie the extra ribbon/streamers on the day of the wedding! For the centerpieces, I used an eclectic mix of vessels: I found some beautiful 6" diameter (5" tall) mercury glass compotes (x5), sets of 3 bud vases of different shapes and heights which I picked up ... from different craft stores (x5 sets), and some different thrift store finds of pedestal vases/compotes (x4). I used Oasis floral foam for all of the centerpieces (except the bud vases!). In addition to the flowers that I purchased from FF, I had purchased a few extra bunches of fillers: purple wax flower (2 bunches), pink lisianthus (2), purple (was actually berry burgundy) ranunculus (1), and huck (1). I used the huck (which I loved!) as a base for all of the floral foam centerpieces. I think that we ordered the perfect amount of flowers overall. We used all of the flowers and only had some of the gumdrop eucalyptus left over. We were able to get everything done in 5 hours the day before the wedding (mainly just one person working, but my mom helped to fill in the centerpieces after I had mostly finished them). I was so pleased with the attentiveness of the staff at FiftyFlowers to my order. The guests were all amazed that we had done the flowers ourselves and we received so many compliments! I do wish that FiftyFlowers had the option to order just a few extra bunches of a few kinds of flowers (in not such huge quantities), but I understand that they ship directly from farms, so that would be difficult to implement. I completely recommend FiftyFlowers! I had zero experience, but with a little YouTube and Pinterest, I was able to learn a lot and had a lot of fun. Show more

Flowers Used for Lyndsey Powell's Arrangements

Used for: Centerpieces , Bridal Bouquet, Bridesmaid's Bouquets

These were beautiful and the perfect economical choice for adding bulk to all of the arrangements! They were a great creamy white color (not that greeny white that so many cheaper white roses are) and opened up perfectly. They were actually help up in FL at customs longer than expected so I was a bit worried about them... but FF was on top of communicating with both the shipper and me about them. They arrived the next day and perked up quickly. I allowed them to hydrate in floral food (crystal clear floralife).

Secret Garden Rose ( 36 Garden Roses )

Used for: Centerpieces , Bridal Bouquet, Bridesmaid's Bouquets

These were perfect! Absolutely HUGE once they opened up and as they did, their color transformed to the perfect dusty blush shade! In addition to the instructions provided, I used Quick Dip and allowed them to hydrate in floral food (crystal clear floralife).

I purchased 5 bunches each of the gunnii and 5 bunches of the gum drop eucalyptus. I felt like both of these choices were economical because each branch is quite full of leaves. Prepping these multi-branch greens was by far the most time consuming task! The gunnii was particularly frustrating at times to work with (really difficult to get it to stand up by itself in large buckets!), but it did function really great as a soft green. The gum drop is a lot woodier and more rigid. I didn't use the gum drop in the bouquets, only the gunnii. I think I would substitute the moon lagoon for the gunnii if I did it again. I hydrated these greens in water.

These were undeniable the show stoppers out of all of the flowers in the arrangements! They were the absolutely perfect berry burgundy shade- not red at all! I knew the shipment would include extras so I expected there to be breakage, but we only lost one flower out of all of them! We were able to fill 2 5-gallon buckets with our "40 stem" order. Tons of compliments on them. In addition to the instructions provided, I used Quick Dip and allowed them to hydrate in floral food (crystal clear floralife).
