DIY Wedding Floral Story

It was important to me to have a wedding which friends and family had to be involved with creating. Everything for the wedding - Save the Dates, Invitations, Table Runners, Veil - was made by my mother and me. I come from a very traditional Czech/Polish family, so I wanted this part of our culture to shine through in the wedding. Colorful flowers are a big play in this theme. We were also having our wedding at a local brewery, and I decided flowers would be the perfect thing to balance out the industrial look of the brewery. When I was asked what our wedding colors were, I could only respond with 'floral'. It was so much fun to have that open canvas.

We created a countless number of small and large center pieces from glassware that I found at garage sales and thrift shops. The cake was decorated during the reception setup with flowers we provided. My sister created my floral bridal wreath (with rosemary from my mom's garden - a Czech tradition). I did mine and my bridesmaids bouquets. It was so fun staying up the night before the family with my bridesmaids, the groomsmen's girlfriends, and my family to make this wedding as 'floral' as I had imagined. This memory made all the work worth it, and I think our wedding flowers turned out totally beautiful.

As for all the logistics, I went with Fifty Flowers because they were truly the best deal on the range of flowers I was wanting to get! When I made the plunge and ordered them, their customer service promptly gave me a phone call with their suggestions of arrival dates for the flowers to ensure they would all be perfect blooms on the wedding day. Flowers began to arrive at my parents' house the Wednesday before the wedding. My mom, fiance, and I had blocked off part of the garage and installed an AC unit to make sure the flowers stayed cold in the Texas heat. We only had one hick-up with our Wax Flowers not arriving when expected, so I called customer service and they had a new order made to ship them overnight. It really was a pleasure working with Fifty Flowers, and I wish any other bride much luck on creating their own floral dream!
