Gorgeous Green Wedding
Kelly Keller (Mom) Berlin, OH
I have helped with many weddings over the years but this was the most precious wedding of my life… the wedding of my only daughter! I was torn between wanting to be Mother of the Bride and Floral Designer at the same time. All things considered (budget, limited decorating time at the venue, needing to be “Mom” first, etc…), we decided to simplify my grand floral plans and decorate with plants rented from a greenhouse, wild vines I had shipped from across the country, and gorgeous blooms and greenery from FiftyFlowers!!!! To make my job easier, I made only one very large mixed arrangement- to greet guests when they arrived. All other flowers were put into vases of varying
size and shape- one type of flower per vase. This truly allowed each flower variety to shine. These vases were tucked all over the venue and looked especially pretty when clustered into groups. The wedding date fell on a regionally celebrated holiday- Sweetest Day, so at the reception, the bride and groom chose a special song to be played for all the sweethearts while wrapped roses were passed out to delighted guests by the bride’s littlest cousins. The colorful bouquets of the bridal party were tied with shades of green or ivory satin and velvet ribbons. Also included in each bouquet and boutonniere was a piece of gray ribbon to represent brain cancer and tumor awareness- the bride is a survivor. To spread joy after the wedding, we were able to donate many vases of cheerful flowers to a nursing care facility. Delivering them was a heartwarming experience. As always, Fiftyflowers’ customer service was amazing. We ran into little issues with availability and such but they remained very helpful and professional every step of the way.
