July Barn Wedding (In Record-breaking Heat!)

Elizabeth Butler (Mom) DARLINGTON, MD
We ordered from two wholesalers because I was afraid of getting stuck if things didn't go well with one. The numbers below (arrangements, etc.) are guesstimates and include flowers from the other wholesaler. Originally, we wanted orders delivered the Thursday before our Saturday evening wedding, but FiftyFlowers suggested that Wednesday would be a better delivery date for most of our selections. We had to change our travel timeline, and I was worried that some flowers wouldn't last until the event due to the heat, etc., but it all worked perfectly! The flowers arrived in great condition (with the exception of the very sad seeded eucalyptus), and I was really impressed. FiftyFlowers was great ... about giving us tracking numbers, updates, etc. Prep is very time-consuming - get your buckets ready! We worked in a cool garage with a hose for water supply, but no easy place to dump extra water which was a pain. You will make a mess, and you will need space if you are working with a lot of flowers (I really can't imagine doing this in someone's kitchen). A big long table makes everything easier - especially making arrangements and bouquets so you can spread out. Having a lot of flowers to choose from makes arranging a snap! All in all, a really fun experience, made much easier by FiftyFlowers. Show more

Flowers Used for Elizabeth Butler's Arrangements

Wedding greenery mini variegated pittosporum sold near me
Used for: Centerpieces , Bridal Bouquet, Bridesmaid's Bouquets

Love the color of these. Be aware that they do shed some leaves and that stems are woody (you will need clippers to work with them). The stems are quite short, so plan accordingly.

Wedding greenery italian ruscus filler flower sold as bulk

Italian Ruscus Greenery ( 10 bunches )

Used for: Centerpieces , Bridesmaid's Bouquets , Other

Lovely greenery - held well even out of water. Nice shiny green leaves, you can bend stems a bit to get a draping effect.

Seeded Eucalyptus flowers for Weddings

These arrived in poor condition and did not improve with hydration. There was a lot of browning and they seemed quite dry and brittle on arrival (seeded part was blackened and very small). I'm not sure what kind of shape they were in in the field even. We picked through, but used very little in the end. Even though I know the look of these depends on the season, they were disappointing.

Phlox White Flower ( 10 bunches or 100 stems )

Used for: Centerpieces , Bridal Bouquet, Bridesmaid's Bouquets

These were amazing! They arrived in beautiful condition. They are easy to work with and surprisingly sturdy. Held up very well in heat and less-than-ideal conditions. Great value!! Highly recommend!

Aster Flowers White ( 10 bunches )

Used for: Centerpieces , Bridesmaid's Bouquets

Great value for a nice filler flower if you are going for a wildflower look. Airy and pretty. Sturdy stems, holds up well to handling, and is easy to work with.

Used for: Centerpieces , Bridal Bouquet, Bridesmaid's Bouquets , Boutonnieres, Other

Arrived in great shape! We mostly used in masses for a billowy effect as ceremony decor. We used sprigs here and there in bouquets and arrangements as well to fill in and tie things together. 10 bunches provided enough for 3 LARGE mass arrangements (in old wooden crates) and filler for many others, as well as bouts.

Hmmm.... I knew these wouldn't be like the wild ones I pick, but they were VERY different. Huge! Big thick long stems and giant flower heads that took a long time to open fully (and they have a pretty strong odor - rather grassy, not floral). The stems were like bamboo. At least 1/2 inch thick - they were too thick to use in a bouquet. Flower heads drooped somewhat as well and we were unable to get them to straighten. Interesting flower, but not my favorite. It was hard to find good uses for it and I had a lot left that we discarded. We did pick some roadside Queen Anne's lace and used it effectively (cheaper and easier to use when it's in season).

WOW! These really surpassed my expectations. They were absolutely gorgeous and a favorite of everyone who dropped by while we were making bouquets and arrangements. Everyone kept asking what they were. We ordered the "super" lisianthus that arrived already in bloom. They held well and buds continued to open. Great replacement for roses if you want a cheaper alternative. They still look good 7 days after the event, and they have been subjected to car rides and high heat in that time. Cannot recommend these highly enough!!
