Shipwreck Mermaids; Nautical Shabby Chic

Julia Adams (Mom) MARATHON, FL
The groom, Ryan, has been best friends with the bride's brother since high school. As the younger sister, the bride--Jillian--secretly crushed on Ryan for years. While his deployment in the Air Force and her college studies led them down different paths, fate and flirting connected them once again 3 years ago. They were engaged the first day of Spring, 2013 and shared their excited dreams of a beach wedding. Quickly, the vision expanded to a destination celebration in the Florida Keys. A year and a half of planning culminated in a gorgeous wedding at a beautiful venue in Marathon, FL. As Jillian said, "It all felt like a fairytale come true." As every bride (and parent) knows, budgets demand ... creativity in assuring the venue, food, gown, music, dècor, photos, and flowers are absolutely perfect! While some costs are fixed, the florist's quote of over $4000 prompted the bride and me to pause. We saw the opportunity to save substantially by adopting a DIY approach to the flowers. Enter FiftyFlowers! The website was easy to navigate in selecting the colors and flowers desired and the "Chat" help advisors were invaluable in advising on amounts of blooms and delivery dates. We were absolutely thrilled with the flowers that were delivered on time and undamaged. With 2-3 hrs of prep time by my sister and me, the bridesmaids and planner were able to create bouquets and centerpieces that surpassed the couple's romantic vision of a shipwreck mermaid theme filled with candle light, driftwood, pearls, cream & ivory flowers, vintage silver, and a touch of bling. The weather was stellar, the venue perfect, the food and music spectacular, the photographer gifted, and the entire day, magical! To quote Jillian, "My favorite part was seeing my entire vision come true and celebrating with my closest friends and family!" Show more

Flowers Used for Julia Adams's Arrangements

Used for: Bridal Bouquet, Centerpieces , Other, Bridesmaid's Bouquets

The Hydrangea blooms arrived carefully packaged, each in it's own little mini vase. Our planner commented on the fullness and freshness of the blooms. I cringed when he "scrunched" them in his palm but he was proving to me the quality of the flowers despite the Florida Keys heat. They held up beautifully throughout the ceremony and for several days after; had we not been leaving the Keys, I could have brought them home to enjoy!

While a tad darker than the picture, these peach hydrangeas provided a "pop" of color for table and venue arrangements that photographed very well. Sturdy, fresh and full!

Cream Fresh Roses ( 50 Roses )

Used for: Centerpieces , Bridal Bouquet, Bridesmaid's Bouquets , Other

This lovely variety of cream colored roses were a beautiful and economical addition to our order. By following the clear instructions included, the roses bloomed and were the perfect flowers to enhance the bouquets and venue arrangements.

While the primary flower colors were soft cream and ivory, these roses brought a subtle hint of green with ivory and light peach hues. A couple of the bridesmaids included them in their bouquet and the remainder filled out the table, food and venue arrangements.

Caribbean Sunset Rose ( 100 Roses )

Used for: Centerpieces , Other

These beauties added a "punch" of color in Jillian's neutral floral palette. They were a delightful accent to the ceremony space, food stations and guest book area. We had to include a Caribbean rose at a Florida Keys wedding

Vendela Ivory Rose ( 75 Roses )

Used for: Centerpieces , Bridal Bouquet, Bridesmaid's Bouquets , Other

The Vendala roses were chosen for the color and price and they did not disappoint. We provided a basket full of the extra stems/blooms for family and guests to toss into the Gulf in celebration of both the day and in memory of those that have passed. The gesture was poignant.

The Domenica roses, coupled with the Vendala, offered an outstanding value. To receive 75 blooms, at a great price, allowed our planner to add multiple arrangements to the ceremony and venue space. The blooms were very large and very delicate.

Used for: Bridal Bouquet, Bridesmaid's Bouquets

With peonies not available in Oct., these roses were perfect in adding the vintage, romantic look Jillian wanted. Again, we followed instructions exactly and, when opened fully 2 days later, they were stunning!

My daughter (the bride) envisioned a romantic, candlelit reception filled with cream and ivory flowers. These berries provided the perfect amount of texture and foliage to the bride's and bridesmaids bouquets as well as venue arrangements.

Garden Rose Butterscotch Cream ( 72 Garden Roses )

Used for: Bridal Bouquet, Bridesmaid's Bouquets , Other

These roses were my absolute favorites! Again, we followed the care instructions exactly and were not disappointed! These lovely flowers lived in dollar store buckets for 3 days and bloomed to almost double their arrival size! They were stunning and lent a vintage feel to all the bouquets!
