The DIY Guru

Andria (Bride) Avon, NY
Pretty much everything in my wedding had to be DIY for two reasons: I started dental school this year and I am a fanatic of creating things myself. This included my wedding flowers. These flowers were a great way to get the look I wanted without breaking the bank. Spending less than $1000, I was able to make 16 HUGE centerpieces, 7 bouquets, 12 boutonnieres, and 2 corsages. There were a few hiccups, including one batch of roses arriving a day late and therefore being useless because their petals were browned (but the company took care of this by refunding me), peach roses being orange, and the lavender-blue scabiosa flowers being dark purple and missing most of their petals. Being a perfectionist ... with an eye for art, I am a little upset looking back at my wedding flowers and seeing the color combo. I did not get exactly what I envisioned, but what can you do when you need to save a buck or two. If I were to do it all over again, I would go with a safe color combo like different shades of pale pinks with white (like my bridesmaid bouquets!), and possibly a hint of yellow. Fiftyflowers talked me into setting the arrival date for the flowers to 3 days prior to the event. After reading other reviews, I decided to change my mind at the last minute and push back the arrival a day. Because I was so late to do this, only half of the flowers were able to arrive 2 days prior, the other half 3 days prior. I would definitely recommend having them arrive 2 days prior! It was hard to sustain the flowers for very long. They were getting very wilty until we finally set the AC in the house to 55 degrees! The day of the wedding was 90+ degrees out, so inside the venue they opened right up in the sunshine and looked gorgeous. Another thing to point out is that the flower arrangements took a long time to put together. With a team of myself, 5 bridesmaids, my mom, the groom, and my brother, it took us about 6 hours. Thank goodness I had the hands to help me! Overall I was very satisfied with the flowers and the company as a whole. I would just be careful with the flowers you choose. Show more

The purple-lavender roses were absolutely gorgeous. They opened right up on the day of the wedding and were huge! The light pink were also beautiful accents to my bouquets. Unfortunately, the "peach" roses were not actually peach but orange.. kind of ruined my color scheme.

Beautiful, soft filler.

Used for: Centerpieces , Bridal Bouquet, Bridesmaid's Bouquets , Corsages, Boutonnieres

Gorgeous roses! They didn't open as large as I was hoping - the bulk roses were actually larger. But still very pretty.

Veronica White Flower ( 20 bunches )

Another great accent to my bouquets. I also wish I ordered less of these. More were wasted than used.

A great filler flower! These added that "right out of the garden" feel I was going for and looked amazing! I wish I hadn't ordered so much, because I threw out over half of them.
