Vibrant Lake Tahoe Mountain Wedding

We got married on a chilly, sunny September day in Lake Tahoe, CA along the Truckee River. After spending a year planning our wedding, coupled with so much time apart and a deployment thrown in there, we were so excited to have all our family and best friends come together in our favorite place, to celebrate our marriage. It was truly the best day of our lives. Besides marrying my best friend and having the wedding of our dreams, the flowers were one of my favorite parts of the day.

I spent so many hours planning, dreaming, researching and pinning the flowers for our wedding. I had visions of bright, fun, colorful and "different" flowers and wanted to accentuate all the natural beauty of the mountain and river backdrop. Think lots of different shades of pinks, peaches, lavender, ivory and burgundy mixed in with LOTS of eucalyptus and large blooms. I knew that if I wanted these lush, amazing flowers for our wedding and stay in our budget, I'd have to get creative. I did some research and found FifityFlowers and knew that this would be the best way to accomplish my flower vision for our wedding. There was such a huge selection of flowers and greenery and I wanted it all! I ended up choosing so many different kinds of flowers and couldn't be happier with all of the textures and colors that we ended up with. It can be hard to trust pictures online but the flowers were even prettier in person than the pictures. Some of my friends told me that I was crazy for taking on such a daunting DIY project right before the wedding but I knew that I could handle it (with some help, of course!). I spent hours researching flowers and even took an online floral arrangement course to make sure that I had the basics down! I must have used the FF chat function on the website to ask a million questions but everyone was so helpful and friendly. It was almost therapeutic for me and I knew that if I did the flowers for the wedding, they would be exactly how I imagined. I've had so many friends hire florists only to be disappointed when the flowers arrive the day of because they weren't exactly what the bride wanted and by using FiftyFlowers and doing them myself, I knew I'd get the exact look I was going for.

The flowers were delivered a few days leading up to the wedding and we spent a few hours (and a few glasses of wine!) getting them out of the boxes and into buckets of water. We stripped and trimmed the stems and waited for these beauties to open. Our living room floor was covered in buckets of flowers- the house smelled amazing. On the day before our wedding, with the help of my amazing mom, mother in law, aunt and family friends, we got to work arranging. I was organized and had everything ready to go (thanks to my spreadsheet) and we arranged all of the centerpieces, eucalyptus swags, bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages and various other arrangements in about 5 hours. We were done in plenty of time to get to the venue and get the wedding weekend started!

The whole wedding was an absolute dream and the flowers were such a colorful and fun addition. I got so many compliments during the wedding about how gorgeous the flowers were and I felt like they were unique and very much depicted our personalities. No one thought that we did them ourselves. It was so fun to watch my vision come to life and not spend an obscene amount of money yet still get everything we wanted. The best part was that our guests were able to take the centerpiece arrangements home after the wedding.

If you think DIYing your flowers is too big of a task, trust me you can do it. Everything was delivered on time and the flowers all opened up exactly as they were supposed to and were more beautiful in person. FiftyFlowers was amazing and made the whole process so painless and fun I'd use them again in a heartbeat.
