Package contents and prices are based on availability and may change due to weather and market conditions. If a substitution is necessary, we take great care to ensure your order closely matches your original flower choice, even if this means substituting flowers of higher value. Caring for Your Larkspur

Our flowers are shipped fresh directly from our farms to your doorstep. When you first open the box, your flowers might appear "sleepy" or "thirsty," which is completely normal. These flowers have just completed an international journey and need water. Following the important care and preparation steps below will help rehydrate them and ensure they last as long as possible.

Flower Care Steps – From Arrival to Arrangement

Step 1: Unpack and Inspect

  • Unpack and Inspect: Cut any straps to remove flowers from the box, but leave their protective packaging on for the first 4 hours of hydration. As you unpack, check your blooms for any visible concerns.

  • Process Immediately: Begin the steps below immediately upon opening the box to ensure your flowers rehydrate and recover from their journey. Again, don’t worry if they appear sleepy or thirsty—they will perk up beautifully with proper care.

Step 2: Prepare the Containers

  • Choose Clean Buckets or Vases: Ensure your containers are clean and sanitized to remove soap residue, bacteria, and dirt, which can shorten flower life.

  • Fill Containers: Add at least 4 inches of cool, fresh water, and mix in flower food if available.

Step 3: Trim and Place in Water

  • Remove Foliage Below the Waterline: Strip leaves that will fall below the waterline to prevent mold or bacteria growth.

  • Cut Stems Correctly: Use clean, sharp floral shears to cut stems diagonally about 1 inch from the bottom. Avoid household scissors, as they pinch the stems and block water absorption.

  • Place and Space: Place the freshly cut stems into the prepared water immediately, ensuring enough space in each container to allow the flowers to bloom properly.

Step 4: Hydrate and Maintain

  • Hydration Time: After the initial 4-hour hydration period, remove protective packaging, strip additional leaves and thorns (if applicable).

  • Re-cut and Space: Give your flowers another fresh cut and place them in your prepared buckets. You may need to spread your stems out into more buckets to give them even more room to bloom. It is important not to overcrowd your buckets. Allow your flowers to continue to hydrate for another 8 hours before beginning the design process.

  • Store in a Cool Place: Keep flowers in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight, drafts, and heat. Avoid placing them in a refrigerator, as this can harm flowers.

  • Monitor Water Levels: Flowers drink heavily upon arrival, so check frequently to ensure all stems are always submerged. If the water drops below the stems, refill immediately and recut them before placing them back in the container.

Step 5: Time to Design

  • Ready to Arrange: After completing the hydration and processing steps above, your flowers are now ready for design.

  • Recut and Maintain: As you design, make sure to recut the stems and maintain water levels.

  • Refresh Regularly: Change water daily and recut stems every 24-48 hours to keep flowers fresh.

Tips from Our Experts

  • Always keep flower buds above the bucket or vase rim to prevent your blooms from bruising.

  • Warm environments speed up blooming, while cooler areas slow it down. Adjust storage as needed, but always avoid direct sunlight and excessive heat.

  • Use a floral finishing spray after arranging blooms to help them last longer.

Romantic Redwood Wedding

Our wedding day was the best day ever. We had perfect weather, amazing food, family and friends supporting us, an intimate ceremony, and a total party of a reception. I'm obsessed with so many details from our day, and our flowers are no exception. I have always loved flowers, so I knew they would definitely be a key feature on our wedding day. However, after getting estimates around $6.000, I knew we would have to find an alternative to a florist. I found FiftyFlowers thanks to Reddit and chose them over other sites due to the variety of flowers available. I highly, highly recommend doing the complimentary consultation; Chloe recommended options that I hadn't found in my own search of the site and made sure I stayed within our budget.

To prepare, we purchased the Floral Crown Kit, ribbon, pins, 8 non-BPA buckets from Home Depot, and some glass vases from the Dollar Tree (for the anemones and ranunculus that are too short for buckets). Our delivery was split over two days as we went with the recommended time frames, but it worked out perfectly. On both delivery days, we just focused on getting all of the flowers cut and hydrated and happy. The day before the wedding, we finished the de-thorning/de-leafing process and started to put them in the groupings that I liked for each bouquet. It wasn't until the morning of the wedding that we did the actual wrapping of the bouquets and final cuts. I also put together our floral arch that morning, but it came together quickly because I opted to just glue flowers to a pre-made garland. Honestly, the entire process from delivery to set-up was so simple and took way less time than I was anticipating.

My vision perfectly came together and when I look at pictures, I feel a bit of pride over the fact that I did all of that! I'm not a DIY person at all so I was nervous about how it would turn out, but now I wouldn't change a thing. Not only did we save a **** ton of money, but every flower was beautiful and helped make our day perfect.
