Pink Ice Protea Flower

Wholesale Prices | Delivered Fresh

Protea Pink Ice is an incredibly unique tropical flower that will leave guests oohing and ahhing. This curious novelty flower is comprised of a large head surrounded by fuzzy pink petals that overlap to create a tall cup shape. Often the petals are so fuzzy that it almost appears as if they are tipped in frost. Perched on a tall, sturdy stem protea flowers have long oval shaped leaves that add a perfect contrasting green. Use them for any event like a birthday or anniversary party, ladies luncheon or chic wedding, just remember: they're definitely a conversation starter. A member of one of the oldest families of flowers on earth, proteas date back 300 million years and, according to Greek legend, are named after Proteus the son of Poseidon. Incredibly mystical and slightly mysterious, Protea flowers symbolize transformation, diversity and courage. Stunning no matter how you arrange them, our pink protea will look particularly great when blended with roses, dinner plate dahlias and lilies or simply bunched on their own. So stunning, so unique, so magical these flowers are straight out of a storybook.

Caring for Your Protea

Tropical flowers are shipped fresh directly from our farms to your doorstep. If your flowers appear "sleepy" or "thirsty" after their journey, this is completely normal. These flowers have just completed an international journey and need water. Following the important care and preparation steps below will help rehydrate them and ensure they last as long as possible.

Tropical Flower Care Steps – From Arrival to Use

Step 1: Unpack and Inspect

  • Unpack Promptly: Open your boxes as soon as they arrive and remove any straps or outer packaging such as foam or paper.

  • Inspect Your Flowers: Look over your tropicals for any concerns before continuing with processing.

Step 2: Prepare the Containers

  • Use Clean Buckets: Choose buckets or containers that are clean and free from soap residue or bacteria. Rinse with warm water to help keep your flowers healthy.

  • Add Water: Fill each container with at least 4 inches of fresh, cool water. If flower food is available, follow the package directions and mix it in.

Step 3: Trim and Place in Water

  • Remove Packaging: Take off any rubber bands or plastic sleeves securing the flower bunches.

  • Remove Foliage Below the Waterline: Strip any leaves that will fall below the waterline to prevent bacterial growth.

  • Trim the Stems: Use clean, sharp floral shears or scissors to cut about 1 inch off each stem at a diagonal under cool running water. Avoid using household scissors, which can crush the stems and limit water absorption.

  • Place Immediately: After trimming, place the stems directly into the prepared water.

Step 4: Hydrate and Maintain

  • Hydration Time: Allow tropical flowers to hydrate for at least 4 hours — 8 to 12 hours is ideal.

  • Water & Misting: Check water levels often, as tropicals drink heavily at first. Refill as needed, and mist petals and foliage 1–2 times per day with room temperature water.

  • Temperature & Storage: Keep flowers in a warm room between 65°F–75°F. Do not refrigerate your tropical flowers — cold storage can damage the blooms. Avoid direct sunlight, cold drafts, or excessive heat.

Step 5: Ready to Use

  • Once hydrated, tropical flowers are ready to be arranged. For best results, re-cut the stems every 24–48 hours and refresh the water regularly.

Tips from Our Experts

  • Tropical flowers may arrive looking soft, compressed, or slightly limp due to shipping. This is normal — they will perk up beautifully after proper hydration and misting.

  • Always mist tropical flowers gently with room temperature water once or twice daily to maintain their humidity.

  • These blooms are extremely sensitive to cold. Avoid placing them near vents, open windows, or anywhere below 60°F.

KILLER aesthetics - I loved these proteas! I will repeat - I LOVED these proteas! The deep dark center paired well with my burgundy flowers and the Iced center really pulled the sunlight into the bloom making it look fabulous in our bouquets! I had so many questions and interest in these flowers!!! I love how they stand out so much in my photos also. These are a tough stem to cut, and I was prepared with some strong shears but I still had to put a little muscle into it!!!

IN LOVE! Proteas are some of my favorite flowers, and these definitely met (and exceeded!) my expectations. They were a beautiful deep pink and added just the right amount of bohemian flair to our arrangements. They were also super hardy. I loved that there was variation in these - some were slightly smaller (large rose sized), while others were totally huge. It offered us some room to play around with where to place them, and how many.

I absolutely love this flower. We got it Delivered the Thursday before our wedding and I honestly wished we would have gotten it on Wednesday. They were just beginning to really open on Saturday when we made the bouquets. They were so beautiful and we received a lot of praise for this flower!
