Additional Information

Your Tulips will arrive closed, but once placed in water, the bloom and stem will continue to open and grow substantially.
Tulips have a natural bend. Please see the Flower Care tab on this page for detailed tips on how to care for them and keep them upright.
Tulips are phototropic, meaning that the blooms will follow the light. If possible, try to place the flowers directly under the light so that the flowers stand straight.

Please Note

Your flowers will arrive looking thirsty and sleepy. This is absolutely NORMAL. Please see our Flower Care tab on this page to learn how to properly care for and handle your flowers.

As flowers are a natural product of Mother Nature and monitor resolutions can differ, the exact color tones of this flower may vary to some degree.

Package contents and prices are based on availability and may change due to weather and market conditions. If a substitution is necessary, we take great care to ensure your order closely matches your original flower choice, even if this means substituting flowers of higher value. While we will make every effort to contact you, there may be rare instances where we are unable to reach you in time. In such cases, we may proceed with substitutions to ensure your order ships on schedule, even without prior verbal confirmation.

Caring for Your Tulips

Our flowers are shipped fresh directly from our farms to your doorstep. When you first open the box, your flowers might appear "sleepy" or "thirsty," which is completely normal. These flowers have just completed an international journey and need water. Following the important care and preparation steps below will help rehydrate them and ensure they last as long as possible.

Flower Care Steps – From Arrival to Arrangement

Step 1: Unpack and Inspect

  • Unpack and Inspect: Cut any straps to remove flowers from the box, but leave their protective packaging on for the first 4 hours of hydration. As you unpack, check your blooms for any visible concerns.

  • Process Immediately: Begin the steps below immediately upon opening the box to ensure your flowers rehydrate and recover from their journey.

Step 2: Prepare the Containers

  • Choose Clean Buckets or Vases: Ensure your containers are clean and sanitized to remove soap residue, bacteria, and dirt, which can shorten flower life.

  • Fill Containers: Add at least 4 inches of cool, fresh water, and mix in flower food if available.

Step 3: Trim and Place in Water

  • Remove Foliage Below the Waterline: Strip leaves that will fall below the waterline to prevent mold or bacteria growth.

  • Cut Stems Correctly: Use clean, sharp floral shears to cut stems diagonally about 1 inch from the bottom. Avoid household scissors, as they pinch the stems and block water absorption.

  • Place and Space: Place the freshly cut stems into the prepared water immediately, ensuring enough space in each container to allow the flowers to bloom properly.

Step 4: Hydrate and Maintain

  • Hydration Time: Allow flowers at least 4 hours to hydrate, though 8 to 12 hours is ideal. After hydrating, remove protective packaging and guard petals (outer layers that may look bruised or brown).

  • Store in a Cool Place: Keep flowers in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight, drafts, and heat. Avoid placing them in a refrigerator, as this can harm flowers.

  • Monitor Water Levels: Flowers drink heavily upon arrival, so check frequently to ensure all stems are always submerged. If the water drops below the stems, refill immediately and recut them before placing them back in the container.

Step 5: Time to Design

  • Ready to Arrange: After completing the hydration and processing steps above, your flowers are now ready for design.

  • Recut and Maintain: As you design, make sure to recut the stems and maintain water levels.

  • Refresh Regularly: Change water daily and recut stems every 24–48 hours to keep flowers fresh.

Tips from Our Experts

  • Tulips will arrive closed but will bloom and continue to grow in both stem and head after being placed in water.

  • Tulips are phototropic — they naturally bend and follow the light. For straighter stems, place the flowers in a well-lit area with light directly overhead.

  • If stems appear bowed, trim the ends and wrap the tulips loosely in newspaper, leaving the lower third exposed. Stand upright in water with a direct light source overhead to encourage straightening.

GORGEOUS FLOWERS

I have done a wedding before in California gathering up flowers from various locations including grocery stores, farmer's markets and wholesalers. But not knowing anything, I mean ANYTHING, about flower availability in MS, I grew anxious as the date of the wedding of my godson grew closer. The bride wanted hydrangeas for her maids. Where will I find them and will they last? I was visiting my mom in AZ two weeks before the wedding, and thinking YIKES about the sweltering weather so I began searching online for flowers and reading reviews, and I found the best with FiftyFlowers! So I took the plunge and ordered hydrangeas, roses, and a mixed box of larkspur, stock, delphinium, etc and greenery. Everything arrived healthy, well watered and packaged, and beautiful. I was careful and prepared to put everything in cool water and in a cool, shaded room. I made 6 bridesmaids bouquets, bride's bouquet of cream roses, 12 table arrangements, 3 hair garlands, 5 nosegays, a decorated wedding arch, and had flowers for cake decorating. Everything looked stunning! The bride was thrilled. What can I say except I would do this again and only order online from FiftyFlowers. The delivery was on time and there was even follow up from FiftyFlowers. Thank you. Thank you.
