Additional Information
Poppies will arrive with a closed bloom and buds that look like fuzzy pods. These pods will slowly open, but some of the buds will remain closed. To have beautiful blooms for your event, you will need to assist the flower by carefully cracking the fuzzy shell-like pod open.
Poppies are highly perishable. Please see our Flower Care tab on this page to learn how to properly care for your Poppies.

Please Note
Your flowers will arrive looking thirsty and sleepy. This is absolutely NORMAL. Please see our Flower Care tab on this page to learn how to properly care for and handle your flowers.
As flowers are a natural product of Mother Nature and monitor resolutions can differ, the exact color tones of this flower may vary to some degree.
Package contents and prices are based on availability and may change due to weather and market conditions. If a substitution is necessary, we take great care to ensure your order closely matches your original flower choice, even if this means substituting flowers of higher value. While we will make every effort to contact you, there may be rare instances where we are unable to reach you in time. In such cases, we may proceed with substitutions to ensure your order ships on schedule, even without prior verbal confirmation.
Caring for Your Poppies
Poppies are shipped fresh directly from our farms to your doorstep. If your flowers appear sleepy or thirsty after their journey, this is completely normal. Follow the steps below to help them rehydrate, bloom, and show off their full beauty.
Poppy Care Steps – From Arrival to Use
Step 1: Unpack and Inspect
Unpack Promptly: Open your boxes as soon as they arrive and remove any straps or outer packaging such as foam or paper.
Inspect Your Flowers: Look over your poppies for any concerns before continuing with processing.
Step 2: Prepare the Containers
Use Clean Buckets: Choose buckets or containers that are clean and free from soap residue or bacteria. Rinse with warm water if needed.
Add Water: Fill each container with at least 4 inches of fresh, cool water. If flower food is available, follow the packet directions and mix it in.
Step 3: Trim and Place in Water
Remove Foliage Below the Waterline: Strip leaves that will fall below the waterline to prevent mold or bacteria growth.
Cut Stems Correctly: Use clean, sharp floral shears to cut stems diagonally about 1 inch from the bottom. Avoid household scissors, as they pinch the stems and block water absorption.
Place and Space: Place the freshly cut stems into the prepared water immediately, ensuring enough space in each container to allow the flowers to bloom properly.
Step 4: Hydrate and Maintain
Hydration Time: After the initial 4-hour hydration period, remove protective packaging, strip additional leaves and thorns (if applicable).
Monitor Water Levels: Poppies drink a lot of water upon arrival. Check levels frequently and refill as needed.
Store in a Cool Place: Keep flowers in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight, drafts, and heat. Avoid placing them in a refrigerator, as this can harm flowers.
Monitor Water Levels: Flowers drink heavily upon arrival, so check frequently to ensure all stems are always submerged. If the water drops below the stems, refill immediately and recut them before placing them back in the container.
Rest Period: Let the flowers rest and hydrate for a full 24 hours before arranging or using.
Step 5: Ready to Use
Your poppies are now hydrated and ready to be designed into your arrangements. Handle gently and enjoy their delicate beauty.
Special Notes for Poppies
Poppies arrive with closed blooms that look like fuzzy pods. These will gradually open as the flowers hydrate, but some may need a little help.
If a pod isn’t opening, gently crack open the shell-like outer layer. You can also remove any outer sepals that remain stuck after hydration to encourage blooming.
